Local Scrub Nurse Takes on Fundraising Challenge to Support St Helier Hospital
Bing Raz, a dedicated scrub nurse working in the Cardiothoracic Theatres at St George’s Hospital, is once again stepping up to make a difference. Despite his role at St George’s, Bing holds St Helier Hospital close to his heart as it serves his local community. His latest fundraising efforts aim to support patients, families, and staff at St Helier by addressing the hospital’s most urgent needs.
Bing is no stranger to fundraising, having completed major events such as the virtual London Marathon and the RideLondon100. His passion for helping others is deeply rooted in his work. “I love working with the multidisciplinary team in both the Cardiac and Thoracic Surgery departments. Some days are challenging, but it’s all worth it when you see patients doing well in the recovery room or the Intensive Care Unit,” he said.
Bing’s love for running began over eight years ago on a treadmill, but it was the Covid pandemic that motivated him to take his runs outdoors. Now, he’s using that passion to help raise funds that will enable St Helier to purchase new medical equipment, improve hospital facilities, and support staff training—all vital resources that rely on donations and fundraising.
“We depend on the generosity of our community to provide the kind of care that goes beyond what is normally available,” Bing added.
Bing is taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon in October this year, you can support Bing Raz’s fundraising efforts by donating through his JustGiving page: www.justgiving.com/page/bing-raz-1725544356961
