Sutton Health and Care’s Sarah Hills takes the plunge for Epsom and St Helier Hospitals Charity
Sarah Hills, a Learning Disability Physiotherapist Assistant from Sutton Health and Care, is preparing to step out of her comfort zone by taking on the Abseil St Helier.
A mother of three boys and a proud nanny to two grandsons, Sarah leads a busy life balancing family and work. Her commitment to helping others shines through in her 20 year career supporting individuals with learning disabilities- first working with children and, for the past five years, adults in the Sutton Community Learning Disability Health Team.
Sarah shared her inspiration for taking on the Abseil:
“I absolutely love my job, and it gives me so much pleasure to support vulnerable people, put a smile on their faces, and keep them fit and healthy. This event is my way of giving back to the hospital and staff who provide incredible care to the community. It’s such a rewarding cause, and I’m proud to be part of it.”
Sarah’s connection to Epsom and St Helier goes beyond her professional life. Over the years, her family has benefited from the hospital’s care, including her elderly mother, who has received compassionate support, and her grandson, who was recently diagnosed with autism. Sarah’s experience has deepened her understanding of the challenges families face and reinforced her desire to raise funds for Epsom and St Helier Hospital Charity.
Although nervous about the challenge, Sarah is excited to make a difference:
“I feel a little nervous about the Abseil but excited at the same time. It’s for an amazing cause, and I feel proud to be helping different areas of the hospital. If anyone is thinking of taking part, my advice is to go for it! Believe me, it wasn’t easy to decide, but I know this will be good for me—and for the hospital.”
The funds raised by Sarah will go towards the Sutton Health and Care Charitable Fund, as part of Epsom and St Helier Hospital Charity. The funds raised will be put towards supporting patients, their families and the NHS teams within SHC.
